Who We Are

Paco Martin Del Campo graduated from Columbia University in May of 2011, earning a B.A. with majors in 19th-century U.S. History and Social and Cultural Anthropology. He studied abroad in Ghana in Fall of 2009, and returned to help coordinate the renovation project at Naama Primary School in the summer of 2010. He is currently employed as a Program Coordinator for The Bronx Health Link, where his primary duties entail organizing Bronx community members to become more involved in health research and encouraging health researchers to ensure communities, not just individual participants, benefit from their studies. In the fall he will be enrolling in a doctoral history program.

Latrina Bowman graduated from Gettysburg College in May of 2010, earning a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Art, Community, and Social Justice. In Fall 2009, while abroad in Ghana, she studied Traditional Dance in the Community with a focus on Primary Education. She also returned to Ghana in 2010 to help coordinate the renovation project at Naama Primary School. She is currently working as a Program Associate at Horton’s Kids Inc. in Washington, DC, as well as a Literacy Resource Tutor at Green Street Academy in Baltimore, MD.

Debbie Dion is a counseling and mental health professional, currently specializing in children and family issues. Previously, Debbie provided technical and consulting assistance to incorporate and register 22 peer support programs in the state of New Hampshire. Debbie holds a Masters of Education in Counseling from Bridgewater State University.

Prince Kwame Owusu was born in Kumasi, Ghana and graduated from Kumasi Academy Senior High School. He has worked as the program assistant for SIT Ghana Study Abroad Program since 2003. He has also worked for Core Construction company in Kumasi since 2004 and has served as a construction advisor for multiple infrastructure-building projects in Naama, Ghana, including Sankofa’s 2010 primary school renovation project.

Tess Perselay works in the International Development Economics practice at Nathan Associates, supporting two USAID projects. Tess graduated from Syracuse University with degrees in English and Political Science, focusing on political violence and conflict. While abroad in Ghana, Tess studied women’s access to financial resources, including micro, small, medium enterprises in both the formal and informal economies. She also worked on grassroots, network, and policy-based approaches to accelerate African development at TransAfrica Forum and Vital Voices Global Partnership.

Ainsley Schoff is currently a student at The George Washington University, where she studies Political Science and Economics. In the spring of 2011 Ainsley studied abroad in Ghana, where she researched the relationship between national leadership and traditional rulers in rural villages. She currently works at the Partnership for Public Service.

Kate Mason graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2011, with degrees in Print Journalism and Cultural Anthropology. She studied abroad in Ghana in Spring of 2010, and upon returning to USC was named a Global Scholar for her thesis on the oral tradition of performance poetry, informed and inspired by her studies of oral storytelling in Ghana. She currently works as the web operations intern for Global Girl Media.
